Women and Ageing Research Network

The Women and Ageing Research Network (WARN) was founded after a major conference on Women and Ageing: New Cultural and Critical Perspectives which took place at the University of Limerick in May 2015. After three days of vibrant interdisciplinary debate, many participants expressed their wish to continue the spirit of collaboration and mutual support experienced in Limerick, Ireland. In response to this, two of the conference organisers, Margaret O’Neill and Michaela Schrage-Frueh, co-founded the network with the aim to foster discussions and projects about intersections of the cultural, social and medical dimensions of women and ageing. Our network now comprises colleagues in Ireland and around the world. Researchers affiliated with the network engage with discourses on ageing in their various manifestations over time and across different cultures, genres and media. Our goal is to provide a space for creative collaborations among researchers in women and ageing studies in the arts, humanities, medicine, social sciences and more.
